This will be my third year that I have prayed over a “word for the year” #oneword365 It is a word that focuses and centres me for the next 12 months, one that I continuously refer to and one that is used each year to grow me as a child of God and in every aspect of my life.
I have to admit my word may have been inspired by (or possibly stolen from) a dear friend, as we talked through this in great detail recently. My word for 2021 is BEHOLD. To behold our Heavenly Father. To gaze upon Him, to know Him more intimately, to decipher His voice more clearly, to have more of Him, to seek Him more earnestly, to be more aware of my sin and His sovereignty, to put Him in his rightful and exalted place in my life, to transform my prayer life so I listen more and talk less, to long to sit with Him in the quiet and the still, to love Him more, to enjoy Him more and to allow Him to be my only Lord and the one who consumes most of my thoughts.
I am so excited to walk into this new year with this posture, because if 2020 has taught us anything at all, it’s that we’re not in control. So no matter what comes our way, if this were to be our posture, we would be unstoppable because of His power within us.
From memory this wisdom is from Priscilla Shirer of LifeWay Women and I love it:
If I am to follow Him in obedience, His word will often compel me to step outside the comfort zone of my natural abilities and into the realm of His supernatural possibilities.
IMAGINE A LIFE…
- where we are not limited by what we can (or can’t) do.
- where we continuously recognise our place before the Almighty God.
- where we seek God’s wisdom above the wisdom of this world.
- where we put God first and allow Him to tell us what else we should fill our life with.
- lived in wholehearted gratitude for His unfailing love.
- of complete and beautiful submission to the One who created us.
THAT is a life that I want.
Join me, friends, as we behold the Father together:
“You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honour and power, for you created all things, and by your will they were created and have their being.” Revelation 4:11.
